Mukirae Njihia, PhD is currently the chairman of the department of Educational Management, Policy & Curriculum Studies, Kenyatta University, where he also serves as a lecturer. He holds a PhD degree in Educational Planning & Policy, an Advanced Certificate in Education Sector Planning from IIEP/UNESCO and a certificate in Education for Sustainable Development from the Earth Charter Institute. He teaches educational planning/policy and educational monitoring and evaluation. His research interests are in education financing, education decentralization, curriculum, ICTs in Education and Teacher Education. Njihia has served as a principal investigator in a UNESCO/IIEP national study on financing of primary education in Kenya and on a UNESCO and Department of Adult Education national evaluation of literacy programmes in Kenya.
Njihia served as a Deputy Director, Quality Management Systems & Performance Contracting at Kenyatta University. He is long time member of both EAQAN and Kenya University Quality Assurance Network (KuQAN). He serves as a member of the KuQAN executive in charge of Training and Capacity building. He has attended numerous training on various aspects of Quality Assurance organised by various bodies such as IUCEA, CUE, EAQAN and KuQAN.
